Softball Recap: Houston County Takes a Loss

Houston County was the 9-0 winner over Tift County when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Bears fell 7-4 to the Blue Devils on Wednesday.

Houston County has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6-1 record this season. As for Tift County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Houston County and Tift County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Bears will take on Colquitt County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (36 vs. 158). Meanwhile, Tift County (ranked ninth) will meet Richmond Hill (ranked 44th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 2.2, the Wildcats 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
