Soccer Game Preview: Riverwood vs. Pope

Riverwood is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pope Greyhounds at 8:00 p.m. Riverwood's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Riverwood who was credited with the win on Tuesday. Riverwood got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Milton's three. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Eagles are ranked 14th).

While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was Cambridge who was credited with the win on Friday. Cambridge got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Pope's one. The Greyhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory got Riverwood back to even at 4-4. As for Pope, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
