Basketball Recap: Salpointe Catholic's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Salpointe Catholic came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Millennium Tigers by a score of 65-53. This was payback for the Lancers, who suffered a 52-45 loss the last time these two teams met.

Salpointe Catholic had a senior duo take command as Hannah Williams went 9 for 12 en route to 26 points and Sidney Anderson went 5 of 10 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for Williams. Another player making a difference was Allison Even, who posted eight points.

Despite the defeat, Millennium saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dashia Richardson went 8 of 16 on her way to 22 points. That's the most points Richardson has posted since back in December of 2023. Destiny Lunan was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Salpointe Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Millennium, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

Salpointe Catholic will challenge Walden Grove at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. One thing working in Salpointe Catholic's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Millennium, they will face off against Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
