Softball Game Preview: Valor Christian Eagles vs. Arvada West Wildcats

The Valor Christian Eagles will take on the Arvada West Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Valor Christian is returning to their home field after beating Lakewood on theirs, despite the fact Lakewood has dominated at home this season. The Eagles walked away with a 13-8 win over the Tigers on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Elizabeth Canales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendall Ferguson, who fired off three home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Annie Bieser, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Valor Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Arvada West never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Bear Creek. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Valor Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Arvada West, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Valor Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Arvada West in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 5-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
