Basketball Game Preview: Credo Gryphon vs. Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs

The Credo Gryphon will take on the Summerfield Waldorf Mustangs in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Credo will be strutting in after a win while Summerfield Waldorf will be coming in after a defeat.

Credo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 52-13 victory over Technology. The Gryphon pushed the score to 46-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans had no chance of recovering from.

Credo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Leach, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reilly Fay, who scored 13 points.

Meanwhile, Summerfield Waldorf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Elsie Allen an easy 37-16 victory.

Credo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points per game. As for Summerfield Waldorf, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Credo against Summerfield Waldorf in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 38-10 win. Does Credo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Summerfield Waldorf turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
