Softball Game Preview: Perry Bluejays vs. Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs

Perry is 1-6 against Prairie City-Monroe since June of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bluejays will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Perry turned things around against Saydel on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Eagles.

Christina Kanealy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cate Erickson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Karagyn Whelchel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Prairie City-Monroe got themselves on the board against Lynnville-Sully on Tuesday, but Lynnville-Sully never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Hawks. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Prairie City-Monroe pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7-1.
