Basketball Recap: Mount Union Drops Highest Score of Season Against Northern Bedford County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Union). The stars were shining brightly for them in a 56-42 victory over the Northern Bedford County Panthers on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mount Union had a senior duo take command as Cailyn Skopic almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals and Maddie Dimoff went 8 of 18 on her way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Skopic has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Syneira Cox, who posted six points and three blocks.

Mount Union was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mount Union's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Northern Bedford County, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Union will head out to face off against Huntingdon at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Northern Bedford County, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Everett at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
