Volleyball Recap: Hoxie Indians vs. Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hoxie had no problem doing just that on Sunday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs.
Hoxie easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-13.
Emily Bainter paced Hoxie's offense, picking up 12 kills. Bainter got some help from
Avery Mauck and her 20 assists. Mauck also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with
Sofie Gourley, racking up two apiece.
Hoxie's victory bumped their record up to 22-16. As for Sylvan-Lucas, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 31-8.
