Baseball Recap: Ellsworth Takes a Loss

Ellsworth extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-8. They fell 7-4 to the Central Lake Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 10-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Ellsworth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Essenberg, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Essenberg is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Roman Windish also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Central Lake, they pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Central Lake's side, Jameison Pringle and Jason Kline did most of the damage at the plate: Pringle went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Kline went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Pringle a new career-high.

Coming up, Ellsworth will square off against Northern Michigan Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Lake will be paying especially close attention to the Lancers' matchup: after the Lancers face off against St. Mary Cathedral, they'll take on Central Lake again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
