Soccer Game Preview: Irvington vs. Mission San Jose

The Irvington Vikings will take on the Mission San Jose Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 15 consecutive losses for Irvington and six for Mission San Jose.

Irvington fell victim to Newark Memorial and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1137th, while the Cougars are ranked 399th).

Meanwhile, Mission San Jose came up short against Washington on Thursday, falling 8-2.

Mission San Jose's loss dropped their record down to 2-11-1. As for Irvington, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.

Irvington suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Mission San Jose when the teams last played back in January. Can Irvington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
