Basketball Recap: Whittier Takes a Loss

Whittier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 60-41 to the California Condors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 67-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Whittier still got an impressive performance from Andrea Castillo, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 22 points and four steals. Kassandra Mendoza was another key player, putting up three points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Whittier's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for California, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Whittier will venture away from home to challenge El Rancho at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. El Rancho is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for California, they will welcome Santa Fe at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
