Preview: Bernstein Dragons vs. Mendez Jaguars

Bernstein has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Mendez Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Bernstein was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-50 to Hollywood.

Bernstein's loss came about despite a quality game from Odali Rivera, who scored 30 points. That was a full 60% of Bernstein's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Gisele Lusk, who scored eight points.

Mendez posted their biggest victory since November 16, 2023 on Wednesday. They blew past Belmont 39-7 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mendez has posted against Belmont since February 7, 2020.

Bernstein's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 13-7. As for Mendez, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Bernstein beat Mendez 50-39 in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bernstein since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
