Basketball Recap: Castilleja Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Castilleja had won three straight road games dating back to last season and Antonia Vlahos did her part to make it four on Thursday. The Castilleja Gators enjoyed a cozy 39-22 victory over the Mercy Bears thanks in part to Vlahos, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The game was her ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Violet Yick was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to six boards and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Castilleja is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Mercy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Castilleja will face off against King's Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Castilleja surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mercy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-17 victory against Balboa on the 24th.
