Football Recap: St. Augustine Skates Past Menendez with Ease

St. Augustine won the last time they faced Menendez and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellow Jackets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Falcons 48-6. The Yellow Jackets' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Brenton James went supernova, throwing for 254 yards and four TDs while completing 93.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Somourian Wingo, who picked up 117 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for St. Augustine, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Trendell Anderson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

St. Augustine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brandon Whitfield Jr and Elisha McKinley.

St. Augustine's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 35.4 points thus far. As for Menendez, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, St. Augustine will challenge Bolles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Menendez, they will take on Beachside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
