Preview: Bishop McCort Crushers vs. Penn Cambria Panthers
Bishop McCort is 9-1 against Penn Cambria since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Bishop McCort Crushers will head out on the road to face off against the Penn Cambria Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Bishop McCort will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Bishop McCort stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They blew past Ferndale 66-16 at home. While fans of Bishop McCort might be used to big wins, the 50-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop McCort to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Zucco, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Emma Preuss was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Penn Cambria was the victim of a tough 64-44 defeat at the hands of Westmont Hilltop on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Penn Cambria in their matchups with Westmont Hilltop: they've now lost five in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Makenna Mccoy, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Ronan, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Bishop McCort pushed their record up to 20-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Penn Cambria, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.
Everything came up roses for Bishop McCort against Penn Cambria when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop McCort since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
