Soccer Game Preview: South Charleston vs. Nitro

The South Charleston Black Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Nitro Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Charleston took a four-goal loss the last time they faced off against Spring Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Black Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Timberwolves on Tuesday. South Charleston's winning goal came courtesy of Ajayla Reese.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Nitro had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let Lincoln County get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Nitro, who have now won ten matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Nitro pushed their record up to 13-4-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those seven matches. As for South Charleston, their record now sits at 3-10-5.

South Charleston suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Nitro in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Black Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
