Basketball Recap: Mapletown Maples vs. West Greene Pioneers
Mapletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 37-30 to the West Greene Pioneers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maples this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 41-23 back in December of 2024.
West Greene's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendra Tharp led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Tharp has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Roberts, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.
Mapletown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for West Greene, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Mapletown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-16 loss against Geibel Catholic on the 30th. As for West Greene, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-25 defeat against Bishop Canevin on the 30th.
