Football Recap: Lawrence Lions vs. Lawrence Free State Firebirds

Lawrence's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Shawnee Mission North on Friday. The Lions strolled past the Lawrence Free State Firebirds with points to spare, taking the game 24-6. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 24-14 win the Firebirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Lawrence found their leader in sophomore Joey Dooley, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 51 yards and one touchdown. Ethan Curry helped out on the ground, rushing for 99 yards.
