Basketball Recap: Pasadena Comes Up Short

Pasadena entered their matchup against Westlake on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pasadena Bulldogs took a blow against the Westlake Warriors, falling 70-30. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Westlake was led to victory by Taylor Swanson and Mathis Dritz. Swanson went 10 of 17 on her way to 26 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Dritz dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 boards. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Dritz has scored at least a third of Westlake's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Elsokary, who posted eight points along with five assists and four steals.

Pasadena's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Westlake, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Pasadena and Westlake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Pasadena (ranked 272nd) will meet Muir (ranked 774th) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Westlake will square off against Dos Pueblos at 5:30 p.m. on Friday up 258 places (33 vs. 291).
