Basketball Recap: Payton Basehore Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Central Dauphin

Cumberland Valley proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 37) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Central Dauphin Rams out 50-48. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Rams are ranked 50th).

Cumberland Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Payton Basehore, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Mcintire, who earned four points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, Central Dauphin still got an impressive performance from Olivia Green, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 boards. Green has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayanah Taylor, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points.

Cumberland Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Central Dauphin, their record now sits at 12-6.

Cumberland Valley will take on Altoona at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Altoona knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Cumberland Valley likes a good challenge. As for Central Dauphin, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-33 victory against Central Dauphin East on the 25th.
