Basketball Recap: Magnolia Sentinels vs. Anaheim Colonists
Magnolia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Anaheim Colonists and fell 66-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Sentinels have suffered since January 30, 2024.
Magnolia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Britney Perez, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elysia Dellia, who scored nine points.
Melia Hinojos was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and five rebounds for Anaheim. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hinojos has scored at least a third of Anaheim's points. Another player making a difference was Ana Merida, who had three points in addition to 11 boards and four steals.
Magnolia now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Anaheim, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.
Magnolia will head out on the road to face off against Estancia at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Anaheim, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loara at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
