Basketball Recap: Moshannon Valley Comes Up Short

Moshannon Valley lost against Williamsburg back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels took a blow against the Williamsburg Blue Pirates, falling 56-21. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights/Damsels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 546th, while the Blue Pirates are ranked 103rd).

Williamsburg was led to victory by Leeanna Royer and Levada Gorsuch. Royer posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists, while Gorsuch went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points along with six boards and six blocks. The game was Royer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Anastasia Ranalli was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Moshannon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Williamsburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Moshannon Valley will square off against Windber at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williamsburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-41 win against Glendale on the 25th.
