Softball Recap: Centennial Has No Trouble Against Central Gwinnett

Centennial never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Central Gwinnett Black Knights 14-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Maria Mrus made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia De Oliveira was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Megan Bailey was another key player, earning two RBI and three runs.

Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

The victory got Centennial back to even at 1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Knights beat Central Gwinnett by a score of 15-0 later that day.
