Softball Recap: Central City Starts off Right with Win over Boone Central

Central City took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Boone Central Cardinals as they made off with a 9-1 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bison also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Payton Burbach was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journi Schindler, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Addie Burbach, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central City is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Polk County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boone Central, they will head out to face off against Highway 91 on Monday.
