Baseball Recap: Poca Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ritchie County on Thursday, Poca came back down to earth. The Dots fell just short of the Wayne Pioneers by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Dots in their meetings with the Pioneers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Jackson McClanahan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

Poca's defeat dropped their record down to 17-15. As for Wayne, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-23.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poca will venture away from home to take on Charleston Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayne, they will head out to face off against Sissonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
