Basketball Game Preview: Escondido Charter Tigers vs. Rock Academy Warriors

The Escondido Charter Tigers will square off against the Rock Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Escondido Charter has five straight wins, Rock Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, Escondido Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Joseph Academy, taking the game 40-30.

It was another big night for Kami Gillis, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Azalea Vilaysing, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Rock Academy ended up a good deal behind Classical Academy on Wednesday and lost 42-24.

Escondido Charter pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Rock Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Everything came up roses for Escondido Charter against Rock Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the team secured a 72-26 victory. In that matchup, Escondido Charter amassed a halftime lead of 43-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
