Softball Recap: Johns Creek Has No Trouble Against Gainesville

Johns Creek came out on top against Gainesville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Gladiators were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Red Elephants. The Gladiators haven't had any issues with the Red Elephants recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Swara Khatri looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Addie Grindle was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Zelda Arthur, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Johns Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Johns Creek's record now sits at 9-13. As for Gainesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johns Creek will take on Lanier at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gainesville, they will square off against Tallulah Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.85 runs per game on average), something the Red Elephants will no doubt try to take advantage of.
