Basketball Game Preview: Poly Parrots vs. Verdugo Hills Dons

Poly is 8-2 against Verdugo Hills since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Poly Parrots will take on the Verdugo Hills Dons at 7:00 p.m. Verdugo Hills took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Poly, who comes in off a win.

Poly is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since November 30, 2023 on Monday. They skirted past North Hollywood 54-51.

Jhada Cordon was her usual excellent self, going 10 for 19 on her way to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game.

Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 44-40 to Arleta. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Poly now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Verdugo Hills, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.

Poly didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Verdugo Hills when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
