Soccer Game Preview: Madison vs. Hoover

The Madison Warhawks will head out on the road to take on the Hoover Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Madison is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Maranatha Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak back in December of 2024. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 657th, while the Eagles are ranked 320th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hoover challenged San Ysidro on Monday. 2025 welcomed Hoover with a 5-1 loss courtesy of San Ysidro. The contest was a close 2-1 at the break, but unfortunately for the Cardinals it sure didn't stay that way.

Their goal came courtesy of Stephanie Hernandez, who's now up to 21 this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Hoover and nudges their season record down to 5-7-2. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
