Soccer Game Preview: Pickens vs. Gilmer

The Pickens Dragons will face off against the Gilmer Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pickens' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Pickens was handed a five-goal loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They never let White County get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Dragons were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, after soaring to nine goals the game before, Gilmer was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Heritage. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bobcats came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Generals are ranked 253rd).

With the defeat, Gilmer broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three contests. As for Pickens, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
