Basketball Recap: Wilkes-Barre Comes Up Short

Wilkes-Barre lost against Hazleton Area back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack took a blow against the Hazleton Area Cougars, falling 59-18. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Cougars are ranked third).

Wilkes-Barre's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hazleton Area, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Wilkes-Barre will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hazleton Area at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Hazleton Area, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Berwick at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Hazleton Area's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
