Softball Recap: Yukon Millers vs. Bixby Spartans
Yukon had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 16-10 to make it four. They fell 8-5 to the Bixby Spartans. The Millers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 13-2.
As for Bixby, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-14. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.
For Bixby's part, Lexi Goodsell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits.
At the plate, Teagan Standley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Emme Friedrichsen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Looking ahead, Yukon will take on Putnam City North at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bixby, they will face off against Collinsville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
