Softball Recap: Ashland-Greenwood Wins Going Away Against Mercy

Ashland-Greenwood never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Mercy Monarchs with a sharp 12-0 victory. With that win, the Bluejays brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Reese Fisher was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Fisher was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games.

In other batting news, Ashland-Greenwood let Sofia Dill and Ellie Milburn run wild. Dill went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Milburn went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Downing, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ashland-Greenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Ashland-Greenwood now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Mercy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashland-Greenwood will face off against Plattsmouth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mercy, they will challenge Auburn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Monarchs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
