Softball Recap: Lanier Takes a Loss

If Lanier was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Gainesville on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns fell just short of the Roswell Hornets by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Longhorns of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Lanier saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Baessler, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Alex Manzi also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lanier's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Roswell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Lanier didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-4 victory against Chattahoochee on the 9th. As for Roswell, they have also already played their next match, a 6-1 win against Centennial on the 8th.
