Football Recap: Lawrence Free State Falls Short Against Ranked Manhattan

Lawrence Free State faced Manhattan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Firebirds had to suffer through a 47-7 loss at the hands of the Indians. The loss continues a trend for the Firebirds in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost five in a row.

Manhattan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mclain Aslin led the charge by rushing for 112 yards and three scores on only 12 carries. Finn Watson was another key passer, throwing for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Lawrence Free State's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Manhattan, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Lawrence Free State will square off against Shawnee Mission West on Friday. As for Manhattan, they will take on Hays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
