Baseball Recap: Northside Drops Season-High Score on Jonesboro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northside). They were the clear victor by a 13-6 margin over the Jonesboro Cardinals on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Brody Wells made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Northside: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Wells was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Noah Thomason tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Jase Shehane was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Javion Windham, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Northside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jonesboro only managed six hits.

Northside pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Jonesboro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Northside will have a chance to go back-to-back against Jonesboro: the pair will be back at it again later today.
