Football Game Preview: Corning Cardinals vs. Las Plumas Thunderbirds + How To Watch

Corning is 9-1 against Las Plumas since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cardinals will venture away from home to face off against the Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. Corning will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

If Las Plumas heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Corning took over last week. The Cardinals simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Live Oak 42-14. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Corning relied on the efforts of Kaleb Flournoy, who rushed for 180 yards and three scores on only eight carries, and Casey Long, who rushed for 143 yards and one TD on only eight carries. The Cardinals are undefeated when Flournoy posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Corning was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Las Plumas was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against Orland, falling 35-12. The contest marked the Thunderbirds' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Corning's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.7 points over those games. As for Las Plumas, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
