Baseball Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Byron Tigers

Genoa-Kingston is 2-8 against Byron since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cogs will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 4:30 p.m.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Genoa-Kingston and North Boone, and North Boone kept the tradition alive. The Cogs fell 6-3 to the Vikings on Monday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Byron, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Dixon on Monday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Byron has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Genoa-Kingston, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.

Genoa-Kingston might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from Byron in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Cogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
