High school softball: Florida star Jasmine Francik tops national strikeout leaderboard with 329 in 141 innings

Melbourne junior and Florida State pledge has a 0.15 ERA with a 12-2 record.

Jasmine Francik of Melbourne (Fla.) leads high school softball nationally with 329 strikeouts this season. The junior Florida State commit has a 0.15 ERA and is coming off a 12-strikeout performance in a 2-0 shutout win over nationally-ranked Lake Brantley that has the Bulldogs (17-3) likely to re-enter next week's MaxPreps Top 25.

Twice this season Francik has struck out more than 30 batters. In a 14-inning battle against Doral Academy — the No. 5 team in Florida — she pitched a complete game with 36 Ks. The game was scoreless until Francik hit a walk-off home run to win 1-0 in the bottom of the 14th.

Alyssa Faircloth of Tuscaloosa County (Northport, Ala.) is second in the country with 312 strikeouts. The left-handed senior is headed to Troy and has struck out at least 10 batters on 18 different occasions. Faircloth is 17-4 on the season with a 0.40 ERA for the Wildcats.

Kynzee Anderson of Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport, La.) is fourth in the country with 292 strikeouts and is the leader nationally among freshmen.



In a five-game stretch from Feb. 20-28, Anderson had 64 strikeouts as the Cavaliers went 5-0.
