Basketball Recap: Windward Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Windward walked away with it. They walked away with an 81-74 win over the Rancho Christian Eagles on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Despite the defeat, Rancho Christian had strong showings from Julia Wilson, who posted 33 points and three steals, and Alyson Boyd, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 44.6% of Rancho Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row Wilson has put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Kemle, who earned eight points.

Windward's victory bumped their record up to 20-10. As for Rancho Christian, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-9.

Looking ahead, Windward will take on Fairmont Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fairmont Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 23 matches -- so hopefully Windward likes a good challenge. Rancho Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
