Softball Recap: Carney Wins Going Away Against Yale

Carney had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Yale on Tuesday. Carney blew past Yale 12-6. Carney not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since August 15th (when they won 9-1).

Italy Ventris was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ventris was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Macy Hubach was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashtyn Stokes, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Carney's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Yale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Carney will square off against Coyle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluejackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.33 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. Yale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
