Baseball Recap: Newton Takes a Loss

Newton has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.75 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 13-2 to the Morgan County Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Dare'On Adkins was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Newton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4. As for Morgan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton will square off against Heritage at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Morgan County, they will take on West Laurens at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
