Football Recap: Eagle Pass Eagles vs. United Longhorns
Eagle Pass lost a close one when they played last Saturday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by the United Longhorns 37-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 42-28 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.
Despite the loss, Eagle Pass still got an impressive performance from Xavier Barrera, who threw for 122 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 60 yards. Luis Flores handled things on the ground, rushing for 102 yards.
Jorge Luna continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for United, throwing for 362 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes. Colt Lozano did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 152 receiving yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Eagle Pass and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for United, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Pass will face off against United South at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for United, they will challenge Laredo LBJ at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. United is facing Laredo LBJ at the right time seeing as Laredo LBJ is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
