Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack

Pleasant Grove hasn't had much luck against Cosumnes Oaks recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pleasant Grove Eagles will head out to challenge the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Pleasant Grove was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Laguna Creek. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cardinals 20-15 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Cosumnes Oaks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 70-42 loss at the hands of Monterey Trail. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Mustangs are ranked 151st).

Pleasant Grove's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Pleasant Grove came up short against Cosumnes Oaks in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 47-34. Can Pleasant Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
