Basketball Recap: Sylmar Takes a Loss

Sylmar was the 48-36 winner over North Hollywood when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Sylmar Spartans might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 51-38 to the North Hollywood Huskies, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Spartans just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Sylmar lost on Friday, don't look at Isabella Gonzalez. Despite the final result, she went 9 for 16 on her way to 23 points and four steals. That was a full 60.5% of Sylmar's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Pineda, who put up seven points.

Sylmar's record is now 0-3. As for North Hollywood, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Sylmar didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-35 loss against San Fernando on the 9th. As for North Hollywood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-38 defeat against Arleta on the 9th.
