Basketball Game Preview: San Luis Sidewinders vs. Tolleson Wolverines

Having just played yesterday, the San Luis Sidewinders will head out on the road to face off against the Tolleson Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

San Luis is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 57 points on Monday, they were much more limited against Cibola on Thursday. They took a blow against the Raiders, falling 89-16. While losing is never fun, the Sidewinders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Raiders are ranked 97th).

Despite the defeat, San Luis had strong showings from Vanessa Ambriz, who posted 11 points, and Natalia Medina, who scored two points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-36, which was the final score in Tolleson's tilt against Shadow Ridge on Tuesday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tolleson's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for San Luis, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

San Luis came up short against Tolleson when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 45-37. Can San Luis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
