Sierra Canyon and Ontario Christian squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sierra Canyon had to settle for second. They took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ontario Christian Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-52 two weeks ago.
Ontario Christian found their leader in sophomore Kaleena Smith, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten assists. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tati Griffin, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards.
Sierra Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 28-3. As for Ontario Christian, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 30-1.
Sierra Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ontario Christian, they will face off against Etiwanda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Etiwanda knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 26 matchups -- so hopefully Ontario Christian likes a good challenge.
