Softball Recap: Gilman City Comes Up Short

Gilman City lost against Putnam County back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Midgets by a score of 3-2. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tenley Griffith was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Gilman City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Putnam County, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Looking ahead, Gilman City will challenge Gallatin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Putnam County, they will square off against North Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
