Basketball Recap: Sunnyside Extends Winning Streak to Three

Sunnyside had won two straight games and Ruby Cartwright did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Sunnyside Wildcats came out on top against the Madera South Stallions by a score of 45-33 thanks in part to Cartwright, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 13 boards, and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Jadine Mao, who posted four points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Several Stallions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was CRYSTALINA BUITRON, who had ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of GEORIYAH GATEWOOD, who scored six points.

Sunnyside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Madera South, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-10.

Sunnyside will be playing in front of their home fans against McLane at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunnyside is facing McLane at the right time seeing as McLane is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Madera South, they will head out to square off against Madera at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
