Volleyball Recap: O'Connor Comes Up Short

If O'Connor was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Mountain View on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell just short of the Liberty Lions by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

O'Connor couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Liberty a tough time in the fourth set. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 36-34, 15-11.

Kristen Sheehy paced O'Connor's offense, picking up 16 kills. Sheehy got some help from Alayah Krein and her 52 assists. Kaiya Kearney controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Leading Liberty to victory were Mattie Burgess and Anabelle Peter. Burgess had seven digs and two aces, while Peter had seven digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Burgess a new career-high in assists (27).

O'Connor's loss dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Liberty, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-7.

O'Connor has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Pinnacle on the 23rd. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Boulder Creek on the 27th.
